A retrospective cohort study published in the Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery evaluated the validity of the Zygomatic Implant Success Index (ZIS Index), a novel multidimensional scoring system designed to assess zygomatic implant outcomes. The study included 186 patients with 236 zygomatic implants and a mean follow-up duration of 3.2 years. The mean ZIS score was 79.0 ยฑ 14.7, with outcomes categorized as excellent in 44.6%, good in 34.9%, moderate in 14.5%, and poor in 5.9% of patients.

The ZIS Index demonstrated strong reliability (ICC: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.84โ€“0.93) and high discriminatory performance (ROC-AUC: 0.891; 95% CI: 0.847โ€“0.935). Higher ZIS scores were associated with better implant survival, fewer complications, and improved patient satisfaction. Patients in the excellent category showed 98.8% implant survival, 3.6% complication rates, and 93.4% patient satisfaction.โ€ฆ
