Students taking admission under the 15% All India Quota for MBBS have been asked to sign a bond by Medical counselling committee (MCC) which carries 5 years mandatory rural service requirement. The candidate on the governments demand within 2 years of registration must serve for not less than 5 years in the rural areas. Each state has formulated their own guidelines and submitted to MCC. Candidates failing to comply this norm shall have to pay as sum of ₹5 lakh, as penalty for breach of contract.

10 government colleges from Andhra Pradesh and 4 in Telangana state have a silence over this five-year rural service requirement. When the head of the departments were contacted for the same, they said that they were unaware of any such bond status till now.
