Case presentation A 69-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with complaints of crushing substernal chest pain and nausea. The patient was managed with a plasminogen activator, oxygen, and morphine sulfate. Laboratory findings WBC: 13,000/μL CK-MB: 6.6 ng/mL Troponin: 2.5 ng/mL ST-segment elevation as observed on ECG Cardiac catheterization revealed diffuse atherosclerosis of all major coronary arteries. The patient subsequently became acutely hypotensive and underwent cardiac arrest.
