Case presentation A 5-year-old boy was presented in the emergency ward with high-grade fever (39°C) for two days, followed by more than five episodes of generalized tonic-clonic seizures (each episode lasted for about a minute). The boy appeared lethargic post-ictal. In the hospital emergency ward, he exhibited status epilepticus for over an hour, which aborted after administration of valium suppository (5 mg), IV Valium (2 mg), and IV Phenytoin (400 mg) over 30 minutes.
