Case presentation A 23-year-old female reported to the emergency department holding her right arm and not willing to move her shoulder. She had fallen over a dry ski slope. Surgical and medical history The patient had previously undergone an appendicectomy and reported having mild attacks of asthma. She was under salbutamol and beclomethasone regularly and was allergic to penicillin.

On examination The patient experienced pain on both, active and passive movement of the shoulder. The radial pulse and capillary refill were normal.
