Occupational therapy has proven beneficial in patients suffering from chronic self-limiting disorders that limit their daily activities (ADL). A case of a patient suffering from motor dysfunction due to degenerative ataxia is presented below, whose condition improved significantly after receiving appropriate occupational therapy. Case scenario A 62-year-old woman suffering from ataxia with vitamin E deficiency (AVED) from the age of 48 years presented to an occupational medicine specialist. Though the patient has been experiencing the symptoms since childhood, the diagnosis was delayed.
