Recent figures presented to Parliament highlight a steady rise in women’s cancers across India, with breast, cervical, and ovarian malignancies showing consistent increases in both diagnoses and deaths over the last five years. Breast cancer remains the most frequently reported, climbing from roughly 2.13 lakh cases in 2021 to nearly 2.4 lakh by 2025. During the same period, cervical cancer cases rose from about 77,000 to just over 79,000, while ovarian cancer diagnoses increased from approximately 45,000 to almost 49,500, based on data from the National Cancer Registry Programme. Mortality has followed a similar trajectory.
Annual deaths from breast cancer increased from around 91,700 to more than 1.03 lakh. Cervical cancer deaths grew from about 41,500 to nearly 42,800, and ovarian cancer deaths rose from roughly 27,600 to over 30,000. The disease burden varies widely across regions.…
