It is well known that survival in case of cardiac rupture is very rare as the patient is often not brought alive to hospital. However, a recent medico-legal case of a patient hospitalized with a ruptured heart that was not beating has survived. A victim had suffered a deep injury due to a sharp object with which he was stabbed had penetrated his lungs and heart to such an extent that his heart stopped beating.
