Preoperative detection of Anomalous congenital bands (ACB) is crucial as they cause acute intestinal obstruction. In children, intestinal obstructions can be classified as acquired and congenital, extrinsic or intrinsic. Retroperitoneal tumor, volvulus, internal hernia, preduodenal portal vein, annular pancreas, intestinal duplications, and the congenital peritoneal band are the main causes of extrinsic congenital obstructions. Intrinsic congenital intestinal obstructions comprise atresia, stenosis, membrane, imperforate web, meconium plug obstruction, and ileus.
Most intestinal obstructions in children are the outcomes of postoperative or inflammatory adherence. Intestinal obstruction secondary because of ACB is a rare entity contributing to about 3% of the total cases.
