A 12-year-old boy presented with a one-year history of dandruff and hair lesions but with no pruritus. Physical examination, He had localized thick, yellow, crusty scales densely covering the hair shaft and binding together tufts of proximal hairs. There were no other skin manifestations of psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis, and there was an absence of local louse eggs. The initial fungus assessment was negative.
