Amphetamines are the second most-used illicit drugs worldwide following cannabis. With an approved treatment lacking for amphetamine or metamphetamine dependence, and a rise in hospitalization and death related to these cases, the investigation for effective pharmacologic therapies has gained pace. A 12-year-long Swedish cohort study evaluated the effectiveness of 17 pharmacologic treatments in 13,965 individuals aged 16 to 64 years with this disorder. Patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were excluded.
