Acute ureteric (renal) colic is sudden onset of severe pain originating in flank and radiating inferiorly and anteriorly, at least 50% will have nausea and vomiting, ureteric colic is an important and frequent emergency in medical practice, it's commonly caused by obstruction of the urinary tract by calculi. Urolithiasis continues to be a common disorder and on increasing incidence the average life-time chances of stone formation in urinary tract is 5 to 10% and recurrence rate is 50%. Types of urinary calculi are: Calcium stones 70% as calcium oxalate, phosphate and mix calcium stones. Infective or struvite calculi are 20%.
