Synopsis Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) have gained acceptance for its use in cardiac patient population. Greater than 1.5 million patient receive CIEDs every year worldwide. However, it is associated with infections leading to substantial morbidity and mortality. Despite the use of a variety of antibiotic regimens and best surgical practices, prophylaxis of infection after placement of CIEDs is difficult. Thus, a new prophylactic strategy is incorporated which involves the use of antibacterial envelope coated implantable device.
