Case presentation A 47-year-old athletic male was admitted to an orthopedic clinic where he reported that he heard a snap after taking a firm footstep while playing tennis, after which he couldn’t lift his left foot. The patient had no medical history and was not undertaking any regular medication. However, upon admission, the patient reported experiencing unclear pain on the medial side of the left ankle for the past six weeks. Clinical examination The swollen left ankle was examined along with pain in the dorsodistal lower leg (Figures 1&2) Skin was intact There was no numbness, and normal perfusion was observed.
