Bedaquiline (BDQ), recommended in China as a key component of oral short-course regimens (SCRs) for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), has shown promising therapeutic potential; however, the efficacy and safety of BDQ-containing oral SCRs remain insufficiently validated through large-scale, well-designed clinical studies. To address this gap, a real-world study evaluated the effectiveness and safety profile of BDQ-containing oral SCRs in patients with MDR-TB, involving 182 patients.

The study found that the BDQ-containing SCR group achieved a significantly higher favorable outcome rate than the non-BDQ group (80.0% vs 59.8%), with an adjusted difference of 22.27% in the modified intent-to-treat (mITT) population of 182 patients.
