A team of cardiologists in Mumbai recently demonstrated the clinical value of coronary microcirculation assessment after diagnosing coronary microvascular dysfunction in a 66-year-old woman whose symptoms could not be explained by standard angiography. The patient, Rajni Gaikwad from Pune, arrived at Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, with progressive chest pain and shortness of breath that had significantly limited her mobility and independence. She reported being unable to walk more than a few meters without discomfort, raising a strong suspicion of obstructive coronary artery disease.

Initial workup, however, told a different story.
