Immense experiments have been done to improve the outcome of the patients with coronary artery disease. Drug-eluting stents have broadened the application of percutaneous coronary intervention in coronary artery disease. Numerous trials have been done with angioplasty, bare metal stents, drug-eluting balloons and other devices. Bioabsorbable vascular stents are relative newcomers in this field with a lot of hope. The aim of this article is to present the significance of this innovative therapy used for treating coronary heart diseases.
