Did you think contraceptive pills were made only for women? Think again! A recent study presented at the Endocrine Society’s Annual Meeting  shows promising results of an effective and reversible male contraception method that could improve the reproductive options for men and women and public health at large. Very few male contraception methods , such as vasectomy and condoms, are available as compared to those for females. Two experimental contraceptive pills, DMAU and 11b-MNTDC , were found to be effective in lowering testosterone levels in men.

These drugs are progestogenic androgens that lower testosterone and thereby lower the sperm count, with little or no side effects.
