Primary bone sarcomas comprise nearly 0.2% of all cancers. It is difficult to estimate the true incidence of bone sarcomas because of their rarity. Osteosarcoma is the most frequent primary cancer of the bone. The incidence is higher in adolescents (0.8–1.1/100000/year at age 15–19), where it accounts for >10% of all solid cancers.
