Following a single iv bolus injection, the onset of naloxone is rapid with short duration of effects. The onset of action: 1-2 mminutes Peak effect: 5-15 minuets Duration of effect: 60-240 minutes Elimination half-life: 40-60 minutes metabolised hepatically excreted really with inactive metabolites.
With small iv doses Of naloxone, 20-40 mcg may reverse the respiratory depressant and sedative Effects of opioids with incomplete reversal effect of analgesia. Larger doses may cause acute cardiovascular instability, especially in critically ill patients. Hypertension, tachycardia and arrhythmias, or acute fulminant pulmonary oedema may occur following iv naloxone, even with incomplete reversal analgesic and sedative Effects Of opioid.…
