Scientific evidence suggests that some of the patients with COVID-19 have excessive inflammation, which needs to be addressed immediately to avoid risks of developing further complications. According to a study published in the journal The Lancet , colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug primarily used to treat gout, can reduce the risks of developing COVID-19 complications. The study was a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, multi-centric trial conducted on 4488 community-treated COVID-19 patients.
