The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has sought clarification from the National Medical Commission on whether eligible MSc-PhD non-medical faculty can serve as postgraduate guides and examiners for MD/MS students. In a letter dated August 10, 2026, FAIMA raised the issue in relation to the Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 , particularly the provisions governing postgraduate guide eligibility. FAIMA has clarified that its concern is not about the participation of MSc-PhD faculty in medical education.
It supports their contribution to teaching basic sciences, laboratory training, research methodology and dissertation-related academic support.
