Tai chi is recommended to relieve pain and improve function in individuals with knee osteoarthritis , yet access to supervised programs is limited, and the benefits of unsupervised online interventions remain uncertain due to limited large-scale evidence. To address this gap, a study examined the effects of a multimodal, unsupervised online tai chi program on knee pain and physical function in 2,106 adults with knee osteoarthritis . The study found that, compared with the control group, participants in the online tai chi program experienced significantly greater improvements in knee pain (mean difference,โˆ’1.4 units) and physical function (mean difference,โˆ’5.6 units).

A higher proportion of participants in the tai chi group achieved a minimal clinically important difference in pain (73% vs 47%) and function (72% vs 52%). Secondary outcomes, including sport and recreation function,โ€ฆ
