Antidiabetic medications like tirzepatide are known to help patients lose weight and manage diabetes effectively. However, the effects of regular tirzepatide use on heart failure treatment remain unclear. A study investigated its impact on 731 patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and obesity for 104 weeks.

The study observed that the composite event of worsening heart failure or death from cardiovascular causes occurred in 36 patients (9.9%) in the tirzepatide group compared to 56 patients (15.3%) in the placebo group. Notably, patients receiving tirzepatide attained improved Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire Clinical Summary Scores, indicating a better quality of life than the placebo group.
