Development in cancer treatment has improved the survival rates among pediatric patients by more than 80%. However, treatments like immunotherapy and molecular-targeted therapy can cause cardiac complications in patients. To manage these cardiac complications, a new multidisciplinary field called cardio-oncology has been established.
Now, based on the Delphi consensus approach, the pediatric cardiologist and oncologist expert group from Australia and New Zealand has published guidelines to assess risk, screen, and treat cardiac complications among pediatric cancer patients.
