Case presentation: A 40-year-old Brazilian immigrant presented with a two-month history of fever, weight loss, and severe muscle discomfort. She described a "strange feeling around her heart." Tachycardia and an irregular heartbeat were found on physical examination. Laboratory studies revealed peripheral eosinophilia. The patient succumbed to an arrhythmia two days later.
