The US CDC has warned about an E. coli outbreak linked to hamburgers sold by a prominent fast-food chain in the United States. The outbreak has affected 49 individuals across ten states, with ten individuals hospitalized and one fatality reported. During the investigation, all affected individuals reported falling ill after eating at the fast-food restaurant. The investigators discovered that all the patients had consumed a particular brand of hamburger.
Most cases have been reported in Colorado (26) and Nebraska (9). The pathogen strain responsible for the outbreak has been identified as E. coli O157:H7 .
