India’s drug quality surveillance drive continues to keep manufacturers and pharmacies on their toes. In its latest monthly review, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation has flagged 169 drug samples as “Not of Standard Quality” during routine testing conducted in April, while one batch of Ursodeoxycholic Acid has landed under investigation as a potentially spurious product. According to the regulator, 42 NSQ samples were identified by central laboratories, while 127 were detected through state drug testing laboratories as part of the nationwide monitoring program.

The list includes several commonly prescribed formulations such as paracetamol, metformin-sitagliptin combinations, amoxicillin-based antibiotics, and multiple cough syrup preparations.
