The use of laparoscopy in gynecology has expanded from diagnosis and tubal sterilisation to more sophisticated operations and is even being used for the management of malignancies. However, with the growth of laparoscopic surgery, its complications cannot be underestimated. The actual incidence of complications possibly exceeds reported rates. This article tries to explore the possible difficulties that arise during a gynecological laparoscopic surgery.

Most of the laparoscopic surgery complications occur during the entry of the instruments in the abdomen used to create pneumoperitoneum. The prevalence of complications is reduced when an open entry technique is planned which decreases the mortality.
