The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India has drafted an amendment to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. The amendment includes the National Exit Test, a uniform test that all medical students at the undergraduate level must take in order to be eligible for postgraduate programs. Medical professionals and parents of medical aspirants in the state have raised concerns over the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill. Union Health Ministry passed a draft in parliament that makes provision for National Exit Test (NEXT) for MBBS graduates to qualify for medical practice.
The examination will be conducted in English. And must be taken by all students from government-affiliated colleges, private colleges as well as those who have a degree from a medical institution located anywhere outside of India.
