An international study led by Monash University has highlighted a connection between constipation and a heightened risk of heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure. Analyzing data from the UK Biobank, which includes health information from about half a million people, the study found that individuals with constipation were twice as likely to experience these cardiovascular events compared to those without constipation. The study, which accounted for the impact of antihypertensive medications known to cause constipation, revealed a significant association between high blood pressure and constipation.
