Keloids, benign yet troublesome overgrowths of fibrous tissue resulting from abnormal wound healing, can lead to itching, pain, cosmetic concerns, and significant psychological distress, especially when present on visible areas of the body. Despite the availability of multiple treatment options, comparative data on their effectiveness and safety remain limited. To bridge this gap, a study evaluated the efficacy and side-effect profiles of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TAC), intralesional bleomycin, and intralesional radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in the management of keloids, involving 117 patients.
The study found that therapeutic effectiveness was highest with intralesional triamcinolone acetonide, achieving 100% success, followed by intralesional bleomycin at 80.6% and radiofrequency ablation at 72.2%. Side effects were reported in 72% of patients receiving TAC and bleomycin,โฆ
