Dalbavancin is indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin‑resistant S. aureus (MRSA). It has a long half- life which allows infrequent dosing. The present article reports a unique case of a 28‑year‑old nonadherent male with HIV presenting with pneumonia due to MRSA that was treated with dalbavancin. Dalbavancin has profound implications for other diseases, particularly in patients with poor medication adherence.

Pneumonia is a frequent infectious disease-causing complication in almost 50% of patients.
