Atrial Fibrillation patients with a recent stroke face a significantly higher risk of recurrence, highlighting the need for more effective treatment strategies. To address this, a study evaluated the efficacy and safety of catheter ablation in addition to standard therapy for reducing recurrent stroke, heart failure, and mortality in 251 patients with atrial fibrillation and recent stroke. Over a median follow-up of more than three years, the study found no significant difference in primary outcomes between standard therapy (4.9% per person-year) and catheter ablation (5.6% per person-year; hazard ratio 1.11).
