Brain death is a method of determination of death of a person. The legal definition for the determination had led to the formation of Uniform Determination of Death Act (UDDA) which describes the criteria that an individual has to sustain either irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions, or irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain; then only the person can be pronounced brain dead. For that, the American Academy of Neurology made several studies and documented those evidenced based studies into guidelines which has been synopsized in this article.
