Frieberg’s disease (also known as infraction) is a condition of cartilage degeneration, usually involving the second and third metatarsals. This causes tremendous pain and damage at the joint. The diagnosis can be confirmed using X-ray, MRI and/or bone scan. The initial management involves restricting foot movement and reducing foot pressure, following the failure of which surgical options are considered.
