Angry at the recent sequence of attacks on resident doctors from relatives of patients and the state’s inability to address security concern, the services in hospitals across Maharashtra are hampered as nearly 4,500 doctors continued their mass leave to register their protest. While in most hospitals, just a few senior doctors have been doing the rounds, it is getting difficult to render patient care services in the current situation.

The doctors are demanding better security measures at hospitals after colleagues came under attack in two hospitals.Unlike degree students (MBBS) who are involved only in academic work, the resident doctors are pushed into patient care at all levels of medical services from casualty, emergency medicine to intensive care.
