Doctors in Norway have successfully removed a 27 kg malignant tumor from the abdomen of a 59-year-old patient who had been misdiagnosed as obese for 12 years. The patient first noticed health issues and abdominal swelling in 2011. He was subsequently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and obesity in 2012. Unaware that he was developing cancer, he was prescribed semaglutide and attended weight loss and nutrition courses. His efforts resulted in weight loss in his arms and face, yet his abdomen remained unusually large.
After consulting multiple doctors, one suggested a sleeve gastrectomy in 2019 to reduce weight.
