Building a state of the art hospital may improve outcomes, or it may be the case that nicer hospitals attract relatively rich patients. We often read patient reviews on the rating websites for doctors. Patients come to you because they already have a good opinion about you.

But, this opinion is expected to change if they come across stained furniture, age-old magazines, and uncomfortable chairs in your waiting room. However,  if constructing such impressive hospitals simply attract the best staff and healthier, more affluent patients, then improved hospital design may be a waste of resources.
