The US FDA has recently approved ‘Dupilumab’ as the first treatment for nasal polyps in adults with chronic rhinosinusitis. The injectable significantly increases the ability to smell and reduces the need for oral steroids and nasal polyp surgery. The drug provides the first ever feasible treatment option for patients whose nasal polyps are not controlled with intranasal steroids. It also significantly lessens the need for nasal polyp surgery and oral steroids.
