Early versus Delayed umbilical cord clamping has been a debatable topic in the gynecology fraternity, as there are various complimentary opinions about this procedure. Although current guidelines approve this procedure, several concerns revolve around its safety and benefits. In this regard, a recent review investigated the effects of delayed versus early cord clamping on hospital mortality (primary outcome) and morbidity in preterm infants.

Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of delayed (≥ 30 seconds) vs early (<30 seconds) clamping in infants born <37 weeks gestation were selected.
