Comparative studies across countries have shown that non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) by governments to prevent COVID-19 transmission have varied effects depending on the type of intervention. Closing schools, wearing masks, and centralized quarantines significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission than strict lockdowns, which also impact the economy harshly. Data also shows that obesity increases the risks of morbidity due to COVID-19. Moreover, demographic parameters such as ethnicity and age have a greater impact on susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection than NPIs.

Join Dr. Amitav Banerjee as he discusses the “Effect of Demographics and Obesity on COVID-19 Over Government Interventions” on 30th April 2021 , from 3:00 PM onwards . Stay tuned for this exclusive session!
