According to top health officials from the public health department, the vacant posts of doctors in government hospitals in rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra could be filled by BAMS graduates. Maharashtra has more than 100 district and sub-district government hospitals including 12 women’s hospitals. Officials added that there is a 12-15% staff shortage across all public medical facilities in the state. In this regard, additional Chief Secretary (health), said that, “They have set a timeline of two months to address the issue.
“District collectors will publish advertisements for walk-in interviews, select candidates and send the recommendations to the state. It will the ease the burden on Directorate of Health Services, and effectively pace up the hiring process”.
