Synopsis Chronic hepatitis C (HCV) infection affects more than 10 million people in Asian countries and has thus been a major health. In India, the estimated prevalence of HCV is 0.5%–1.5%. The prevalence of HCV ranges from 0·1% to 1·1% in China and Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore, accompanied by varying regional distribution of HCV genotypes.
