Family Medicine is gaining impetus in India. And as doctors, government and other stakeholders of the healthcare setup realize the significance of this specialization in medicine, education in family medicine become imperative. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has prepared the syllabus for Family Medicine, which according to doctors, is almost at par with global standards, but the implementation of it remains a question. In an exclusive KOL interview with Docplexus, Dr. Sunil Abraham talks about the educational aspects of Family Medicine.

Dr. Sunil Abraham is with the Department of Family Medicine at one of India’s most respected hospitals and medical colleges Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. He has nearly three decades’ experience and has actively worked in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He has worked in low-cost effective care units curing the urban poor.
