I recently came across a very pragmatic question about a 4 year old with exercise induced cough. After going through a number of responses to the questions, one of which is almost a mongraph on exercise induced asthma (though a little outdated, and without evidences), I took the humble oppurtunity to share a short description of the same, as updated and Evidence based as possible for me. Strenuous exercise (i.e., exercise sufficient to cause breathlessness and hyperventilation) may induce bronchial obstruction in as many as 90% of individuals with persistent asthma; this phenomenon is termed exerciseinduced bronchospasm (EIB).
