Clinicians have noted that some children void spontaneously during the routine cleaning of the perigenital area before urine collection. This cold, wet stimulation likely triggers cutaneous voiding reflexes, as suprapubic stimulation is proposed to trigger parasympathetic detrusor contraction through the exteroceptive somato-bladder reflex mechanism. The current article presents the evidence for quick-wee method of urine collection from infants.
