The USFDA has approved an injection named Tirzepatide for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes, supplementing diet and exercise. The drug activates the receptors of both the hormones, namely, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) which are responsible for controlling blood sugar. The evidence The approval was based on a study involving the evaluation of three different doses (5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg) of the drug in five clinical trials as either a monotherapy or in combination with other diabetes medicines.
