In India, due to the easy availability of alcohol anywhere and everywhere, the incidence of cirrhosis of the Liver and it’s sequelae is increasing astronomically. The treatment for the hypoalbuminemia is common, infusing Human Albumin. But it is a costly substitute and will have to repeat at least every three months. In certain places, the availability is also at times questionable.
But people are using it often and so the cost of treatment increases. An attempt is made to use FFP (FFP- 5.5g/ dl protein with 60% albumin) as a substitute for Human Albumin in cirrhosis patients and consecutive five days infusion was made. The patients improved and no need for tapping ascetic fluid for three to four months and to be repeated after three months to four months. This worked out well with the three patients treated who demanded ascetic fluid tapping due to the pressure of the fluid initially.…
