Bladder cancer is the ninth most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide, with more than 380,000 new cases each year and more than 150,000 deaths per year. It is estimated that at any given time, 2.7 million people have a history of urinary bladder cancer and the male to female ratio is of 3.8:1. Although many advances in the early identification and interventions have been made over past few decades, the incidence of bladder cancer is on rise due to various risk and causative factors.

However, implementation of optimized treatment strategies and evidence-based guideline recommendations have reduced the number of cases as well as the deaths due to the metastasis of bladder cancer.
